I have really been loving seeing posts on FB and Instagram with women supporting other women. It should be the norm and not something that we are surprised by, but society had us all competing with each other for a really long time. Finally, women have decided enough is enough and are collaborating and raising each other up.
This here is my favorite picture of us women supporting each other. I am 3 weeks postpartum and my friend asked for makeup tips for an event she has coming up. It would have been easy for me to say “sorry, i cannot”, but I knew it was important and I LOVE being helpful so I said, “yes”. I was so honored that she asked for my assistance and that she understood my kiddos would be around when she came over for help.
While I helped her and showed her how to do a glam look, she held my daughter and helped her stay asleep. **Not seen here are our other two daughters (her’s was entertaining my toddler with coloring books).** I had tried to get the baby to sleep on her own, but she had other plans. It was great that my friend understood the only way to get help was to help me out with the girls. This is how supportive we are of each other! We raise each other up, turn to each other when we know the other is stronger in a certain area than we are.
I explained each step, showed her how it looked, and she took notes on her phone. I was able to make the steps easy enough for her to recreate at the events she had coming up. There is no shame in needing and wanting help and us women should be empowering each other and supporting each other in any way we can. Work at home, stay at home and working moms all need to take a minute and appreciate the work that each is doing to support their family. Community over competition raises us all up!
Here is her final look. I love how it simply enhances her natural beauty. This look also made her eyes really POP! Now she is ready to recreate this look and look gorgeous for every event she has!
Let’s be honest…. The more fun, positive, and outgoing you are the better friend you will be and you will get the BEST friends ever. No one ever found a good friend being the sour puss or Debbie-downer. The more positive you are the more people are going to like you because who doesn’t want to be around a happy person!? This group of ladies right here is only a small group of the women I have found to be the best and we continuously lift each other up!
Women supporting other women is fantastic and we do so without having to boast about it! We each have the other person’s back and fully support each other personally and professionally. Community over competition is what we have here and it is paving the way for a strong friendship and financial future.
You may be saying; “WHAT?! How does friendship and finances go together?” Simple! We are all economically connected by converting our spending into earning. We buy from ourselves and our online portal and create a shopping annuity that will pay us for years. Let’s go even further and I can tell you that each of us is interested in different areas…. I do makeup and wellness, Becky and Christina are into weight loss and healthy eating/supplementation, Jodie does wellness, and Shelly focuses on helping families convert their spending into earning. We all have a niche and we help each other without fearing that we need to be benefiting from it. We all add value to each other and each other’s business and because of this we have secured a strong financial future.
Let’s talk more about the fun we have as business partners and friends: Prior to wine tasting, there was yoga in the vineyard. I am three weeks postpartum and felt so out of shape doing the poses. (The next day I felt muscles I never knew I had!)
We had a great time laughing and trying our best to be good yoga students. We are not regulars and most of the time was spent watching the teacher and trying to understand how to make our bodies move that way! This photo was after we had successfully made it through the class. NAMASTE!
Exercise is so good for your mind, body, and soul and doing it with friends makes for a very enjoyable experience. Exercising makes me happy, I love the feeling of accomplishment that comes after a workout. I highly recommend yoga in the vineyard, it was so peaceful and knowing we got wine at the end was a nice incentive to complete the class!
wines to choose for tasting
Cheers to us for a job well done! We survived the hour class and now we celebrate! (but first lots of water, have to stay hydrated!) We also celebrate personal and professional progress. It’s important to celebrate even small accomplishments/goals you have set. I love knowing that there are people to call when I book a new client, completely clean my entire house, etc. ( I am a new mom and also have a teenager and a three year old…. cleaning the house is a HUGE accomplishment! )
Celebrating makes us feel so good and happy and creates an environment where we each want to do more, go further, and have more success! We push past negativity and setbacks because we have each other to help us and because we know as long as we believe we can succeed and work hard, we will! It’s all in the mindset!
We continuously grow our network too. Who wouldn’t want to be part of this amazing group?! We have friends near and far and even though we cannot meet with everyone ALL the time in person, we hold zooms and facetime so that we are always there supporting each other. I love when I meet someone and I know that he/she would be an asset to our community and the friendship and then business relationship blossoms. If you are looking for some positive people to connect with, just let me know!
I leave you with this:
Being positive and happy will attract positive and happy people to you!
Community over competition helps everyone succeed
Success is a mindset!
Being your own boss/ owning your own business (even if only on a part-time bases) is the best financial move you can make.
Cheers to living a limitless lifestyle where you get to enjoy the people in your life and do the things you want to do when you want to do them!
I have been featured as a Trailblazer in the Boston Voyager!
It’s not every day that I get asked to do an interview, actually I can literally count on one hand the number of times it has happened… three times. Two of those times were because of work I was doing as a teacher and helping female students dive more into science and potentially lead them to science-based careers and now this! I am very excited to be featured as one of the trailblazers in my area!!
It was quite humbling to be nominated and interviewed and as I went through the list of others who have been featured I was honored to be among such amazing company! I loved the outpouring of congratulations that I received from family and friends.
Praise is something that people often desire, but as a mom, wife, entrepreneur, and former teacher it is not something I often receive from others. We all want to know we are doing a good job, that what we are doing matters above just completing a task or daily essentials.
As a wife and mother , there are sometimes thank you’s, but for tasks that if not completed we would not be alive, ie making dinner. It’s not that the thank you is not appreciated, but it feels strange to be thanked for doing something to feed my family. I would like to be thanked for cleaning the bathroom…. because, well… teenage boy and husband! If you have a son and/or hubby you know what I am talking about! Soon enough I will also have two girls to clean up after as well and I am sure the amount of hair found in undesirable places is just going to multiply!
When I think back to my former teaching days I can only recall a handful of times when I was told I was doing something great for my students by the administration. If you want to know the number of times we were told to do more or “that’s nice” I lost count after reaching double digits. If you are a teacher and reading this know that I appreciate all the hard work and dedication you put into your students every year! I know that parents and administration can be tough and they make you sometimes wonder why you are doing what you do, but you are fabulous and are making a huge difference in your students’ lives and they need you. I try to always go above and beyond for my son’s teachers so that they know they are appreciated, especially when said child is not doing his best!!!
Being an entrepreneur means I get to be my own cheerleader and I try to give myself praise, but where is the line? Do I praise myself for every little accomplishment, “Good job, Jess, you ordered the toner for the printer so it never runs out and got paid on your purchase.” I mean, praise like that could really go to a girl’s head and make her think she is unstoppable! Why YES! Yes, I will praise myself and do it often because I am the only one who is going to make myself better and grow! Positive attitude and vibes all around here because that is what makes people great! Will I stumble on my face, of course, and probably more than once, but I will always get up and continue moving forward. That is what an entrepreneur does, that is what someone who wants to continue to grow and get better at anything does! Having a dream and a goal keeps me determined to move forward to accomplish more every day/week/month/year and it can for you too!
Remember it is not always about what the goal is and reaching it, but who you become along the way!
Makeup enhances a woman’s beauty it should never hide her. I focus on what she deems her best feature and highlight that! When we focus on the positive there is little focus on things that we do not like about ourselves. Each and every person has something they do not like about themselves. We are overly critical when we look in the mirror, but when you are asked, what do you like best? What is your best feature? What makes you feel the most beautiful? There is a switch that goes off and you no longer are looking at the area you may not like, but rather all the ones you love!
It is powerful and rewarding to hand a woman over a mirror when you have completed their look and have her say, “wow”, “oh my god”, “oh wow, look at me!” I love making them feel as beautiful as they truly are.
I use one line of makeup. It is called Motives and the reason I use it is because it is gluten free, paraben free, cruelty free line! There are many people that have Celiac like me or that have sensitivity to gluten and I am so happy to be able to tell them that they do not have to worry. Paraben and cruelty free is also important because we do not want to harm animals just to look pretty and we certainly do not want harmful chemicals in our makeup. The line is only available online and I am proud to be able to offer these products to my clients, friends and family!
If you would like to check Motives out, you can do so here: Motives!
Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton
I am a mom to two wonderful children and a third on the way. I was a middle school science teacher for 10 years and the decision to leave that profession was a tough one, but it was one of the best ones I had made. I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease 11 years ago, at that time there was very limited options for food, dining, etc. I was constantly researching and looking for ways to be healthy. I needed infusions and shots to help me to gain back the weight I had lost and to be sure I had the correct vitamin/nutrients in my body. After years of this I finally started to feel better, more energized, and I began gaining healthy weight back. I still kept researching, I hated having to go to the doctor’s office for shots just to be “healthy” and then my friend showed me isotonix and after a few months of taking them, I no longer needed routine visits for shots! YES!!! I was so excited to be free of shots and to feel even better than I did when I was taking them. I feel better now than I did years ago when I was seeing the doctor regularly and following their medication regiment.
After this I decided that I need to share this info with others and help people learn about their options. Today I still teach, but in a different way. I am teaching adults about health, wellness, and beauty. I offer information to help people reach their optimal health and wellness goals. I love helping women enhance their natural beauty through good skincare, makeup and teaching how to use it correctly.
Now I get to do what I am most passionate about – helping/teaching others- and I get to do it from my home! I continue to learn and grow and want to help as many people as possible.
